Philosophy
The Children's Advocacy Center is a cooperative effort between the Fifteenth Judicial District Attorney's Office, the Office of Community Services (OCS), Lafayette Police Department, Lafayette Sheriff's Office, Lafayette Parish School Board and the Lafayette medical and mental health communities. The interview of a child takes place at the CAC, allowing centralization of the interviewing process.
Assistance
Provides a non-threatening, child friendly environment for a forensic interview and couseling support services.
Services
- Provides a safe, warm, child-oriented facility to serve abused children through advocacy, intervention and couseling efforts, as well as other community resources to prevent trauma.
- Provides education, support and other services to families of abused children to assist them in regaining maximum functioning.
- Provides a neutral location for community agencies and professionals to meet for case coordination and case review.
- Provides coordination and tracking efforts to a professional multidisciplinary team to increase prosecution of offenders.
